“My Name is Heroin” is an Ohio Valley Emmy Award winning spot created as part of a learning module within the Student Suite App from School Apps USA. We partner with School Apps to create custom content on a variety of subjects important to high school and middle school children as they learn to deal with bullying, self-harm, drug abuse and alcohol abuse.

This project involved working with School Apps to write and concept the spot, select appropriate locations, find high school actors to portray our parts, and handle all of the production, start to finish. Shot in one day in 4K resolution, Bob Kelly produced and directed the spot, with Tim Egan as the director of photography, Randy Campbell as audio engineer and Julie Sams as Production Assistant. The Royal Theatre Company provided talent. The spot was edited at KPG Creative by Jordan Squibb and sound design was handled by Randy Campbell.

Some unique characteristics of the production included our use of sounds to portray the slide into addiction along with the change in color and clarity of the image, representing the confusion and sickening aspects of becoming a Heroin user. Truly, it can happen anywhere, to anyone. Our intent was to disturb the viewer, and to focus attention on the consequences of a bad decision.
